It's An Eldritch Novel After All

Caution: spookies and mild body horror within!

Festering Corruption

Foleri houses an ancient evil. This becomes apparent soon after your arrival.

This evil force, if one can call it that, makes you see things that aren’t there. At least, you don’t think they’re there. It’s getting more and more difficult to tell as time flies by. To top it off, the strangers that you depend on for survival often seem ambivalent toward you at best. You’ll need to utilize all of your wit and charm if you want to survive…

Shifting Forms

We’re so excited to introduce to you another component of our upcoming visual novel! As we put the finishing touches on scripts and complete the remaining artwork, we’ll show off something else we’ve been working on… the corrupted forms.

  • Each major character (including the route characters) is subject to their own personal corruption. Will you steer them away from the brink, or drive them to madness?

    • The corrupted form will often look and sound similar to the person you know. But who’s to say if they’re really the same?

    • Encounters with the corrupted forms may reveal hidden dangers. Watch yourself whenever you meet them, even if it’s only in a dream.

The Brine Pools

The brine pools are often associated with the appearance of the corrupted forms, who visit the player in dreams and visions. This particular setting is known as “Kaegler’s Dream.”

Some notes from the artist: “The description given for Kaegler’s Dream really reminded me of brine pools, also known colloquially as “jacuzzies of death.” I found the outwardly-tranquil, actually-deadly atmosphere of brine pools to be fitting for such a location. I also wanted it to look like something a deep sea creature would be familiar with and use against the MC, so I added stairs that go off into the darkness and rock formations that close in on the player. There was also a giant anglerfish skeleton that was supposed to be in the lake, but it took up too much space and was removed.

The idea of having mussel beds as a running theme also started in this background. While watching EV Nautilus videos on brine pools, I felt like the mussel beds looked a bit creepy. So to match the overall theme of Stygiomedusa, I added eyes.”

A Yorath Face Reveal?!

Yorath, the Long Arm has been hiding under a helmet for a long time. Finally, time to get a closer look at their face! Ah… but something’s not quite right here…

Showcase of the corrupted forms for Stura, the lordling, and Yorath, the Long Arm. We wanted a Yorath face reveal, but is this the best way?
